About This Special Issue
It is established that cognitive behavior of a person is significantly determined by the characteristics of the socio-cultural environment of development. New socio-cultural conditions are associated with technological advances: information and digital innovations and their introduction into public practice. There is a sufficient number of experimental data in the literature containing contradictory facts and concepts of the impact of digital technologies on the cognitive behavior of the younger generation. Both positive and negative effects of computer games on the thinking, memory and attention of adolescents have been proven. Over-involvement in social media is considered by most researchers as a risk of internet-addiction, but at the same time, the possible role of social media as psychological protection in crisis situations is shown. In this regard, there is a high need for analytical review works on this issue.
A significantly smaller number of results have been obtained about the impact of new natural environmental factors on cognitive functions and processes, which can therefore be considered as an important subject of scientific research. At the present time, such a new environmental factor is the covid-19 pandemic, the influence of which on cognitive behavior and development has been poorly studied, which determines the high relevance of experimental developments in this scientific field.
In this regard, the main problem of this special issue is the problem of modifying human cognitive behavior and functions under the influence of digitalization of public life and the COVID-19 pandemic, currently interacting and changing not only the socio-economic structure of society, but also affecting the psychophysiological foundations of human cognitive sphere.
